Religious Education

Madrasa Maktaba e Chishtiya

Quran with correct pronunciation, plus Islamic beliefs, character and jurisprudence (Hanafi/Shafi’i) through the Darse Mohammedi syllabus — for children, women and men.

Madrasa Maktaba e Chishtiya

“Every child will be religious, and every child will be a reciter of the Holy Quran.”

Madrasa Maktaba e Chishtiya was founded in Ramadan 2012 under the Khwaja Garib Nawaz Educational & Welfare Trust. Our one aim: that every child grows up practising their faith and reading the Quran correctly.

The syllabus

Teaching runs in three parts:

  • Part one, 1 hr 15 min. The Qaida primer with the correct sound of every letter, the Islamic kalimas and everyday duas from the Sunnah. A student moves ahead only after reciting correctly and the teacher signs their book.
  • Part two, 2 hrs. Qaida rules and reading the Quran, 20 surahs and Ayat al-Kursi, the duas of the daily prayer (Hanafi and Shafi’i), and reading and writing Urdu through Tameer e Adab and Kitabul Akhlaq.
  • Part three, 2 hrs. Reading the Quran with tajweed (the rules of recitation), and the Darse Mohammedi books: Kitabul Aqaid (Mon–Tue), Kitabul Akhlaq (Wed–Thu) and Kitabul Fiqh (Sat).

The week

Classes run Monday to Thursday. On Friday evening, students recite devotional poems and give short speeches at Bazm e Chishtiya, then revise. Saturday is for reciting the kalimas, surahs and duas. Sunday is a holiday.

Recognition

There are three exams a year, with the final covering the whole book. At the Annual Day, students with top results and attendance receive prizes. Those who complete the course receive a certificate and a copy of Kanzul Iman (the Quran with Ala Hazrat’s translation). A calendar in each book keeps parents informed of their child’s progress.
